Milwaukee 0928-29 28-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Tool Combo Kit

i will give this kit a chance but the first time(and only time so far)i used the hammer drill the chuck locked up and i could not get the drill bit out, i had to use a pair of channel locks to open it.
the dewalt kit i previously owned for five years never locked.the battery meter feature is nice for homeowners but a contractor uses the tool until the battery is dead.i like the flashlight better than the dewalt, the dewalt snakelight doesnt adjust well and breaks.
the beltclip is nice if you wear a belt but i dont, and no one wants to see my hairy white as_.i may send this kit back if this happens again.

When I first saw these tools I was awed by the new battery technology, and since I’m such a tool junkie, I almost purchased them. Then I read the review of the drill in a recent Consumer Reports Magazine in their rewiew of cordless drills. They indicated that they burned up their V28 cordless hammer drill in short order while using it to drive lag screws during testing. They liked the battery, but had serious questions about the tool itself. Just a forewarning; Sometimes it’s best to wait until the bugs are worked out. If the drill is questionable, what about the other tools. Is this C.R. review the reason why the set is now heavilly discounted?

Yeah they’re about as good as corded tools, getting used to that backasswards circ saw even, just have to cut left handed. I should have skipped on the hard cases though because they’re bulky as hell and the tools are tough enough to rattle around in the bag. Just not enough tools in V28 compared to V18, though I’m seeing more lately. But V28 is the way to go. If you’re just starting a power tool collection start with these. Younger generations need never know the hassles of extension cords.
edit-The hammerdrill did let me down; I was hammerdrilling concrete and even though it was 14*F it overheated and melted something inside that made the fwd/rev switch jam. It was fixed under warranty but I expected better durability from Milwaukee.

I had been looking for a Milwaukee set for better than a year, was looking at a 18V set at the time. When this came up on a GREAT sale, I jumped on it! It’s a great set with wonderful power. I’ve used 18V Milwaukee sets in the past, and this one is better. The drill is heavy, but it’s power meets the needs. I’m very pleased with the Sawzall also, I’ve used it more than any other tool. The whole set works wonderfully!
